'Tis the Season...Already?

Holiday Reflections

I don't know about where y'all live, but Christmas comes far too early around here. We just "celebrated" Halloween, and I'm still firming up my Turkey Day menu.

Last time I checked, Christmas was one full month after Thanksgiving. Has something changed? Perhaps Calendar Creator failed to drop me a memo.

Where, pray tell, am I supposed to gin up enthusiasm for chestnuts roasting by an open fire when we just finished a slew of 90+ days, and the leaves on the trees are still changing colors?

Nevertheless, I know a cozy snap when I see one. This interior design space is located next to my daily coffee shop stop. And because the time hasn't yet changed (remember to "fall back" tomorrow!), I'm still commuting in the dark.

Happy Holidays, y'all!

I'm sorry but it's because Santa Claus wants you to spend more and more on things we don't need....(neither children)

I keep trying to find an upside to the fact that retail stores find it absolutely necessary to use Christmas trees to replace pumpkins in the store (and at Hobby Lobby, Christmas started at the end of September. That's just 47362 different types of wrong). It's no wonder that people are SO cranky by the time the day actually rolls around. It's kind of ridiculous. But I must say the world is more beautiful at night when it's decorated for Christmas. Icicle lights? So tacky during the day. But at night they are enchanting. So, I guess there is an upside after all... ;)

It is all coming a little too quickly for me. When you get that Turkey Day menu firmed up, would you mind sharing a copy. haha

Christmas decorations have already been up in the departments stores here. I'm not ready for Thanksgiving yet!

I swear it moves up a little more every year! Yipes! It isn't even Thanksgiving and we just got past Halloween????? Well whatever, I love your reflections! Hope you have a great weekend and there's no need to sing Santa Claus is Coming to Town, as I do think the word is out! Enjoy and just think TURKEY!!

Thanks for the reminder to fall back! I knew it had to be coming soon, but I didn't realize it was this weekend. I'm not ready for Xmas yet either. There's still leaves on the trees for goodness sake!

Our time changed last weekend and we're commuting in the dark mostly!

I totally agree. I can't stand when I go to Wally World on November 1 and there's Christmas stuff already out. Just makes me think Thanksgiving is becoming an afterthought.

We are doing the same grumbling around here. Our local drugstore got all decked out for xmas on OCTOBER 30th!!! Craziness. BEFORE Halloween??? Seriously?

My children claimed to have seen a Christmas tree up in a house down the street when we were trick-or-treating. Insanity!

I don't mind seeing Christmas stuff at craft stores because I know it can take a log time to get Christmas crafts together, but the rest of the stores--like the Target that has Christmas decorations hanging--need to chill out. I might need to avoid stores this month.

I like the way you had this little inside glance... Very cheerful, this chrismas tree already ready even if the season is not quite there...

Nice capture for Christmas announcement

Same in my town. Christmas decorations went up right around the last week of October, sad!

Unfortunately, many people talk about how their house is decorated for Christmas on Thanksgiving. No separation of the two holidays.

You've never worked retail? There isn't a whole lot of time to put up and take down that stuff, and you gotta make hay while the sun shines. Or, better suited for the time, you gotta put up Santa before it snows!

I don't mind Christmas starting in November, just not before Halloween. As I walked through Embarcadero Center on Thursday, I noticed the reindeer going into place. That made me feel in the mood.
