All in a Day's Work

All in a Day's Work

Or, that's how Pepper sees it, anyway. In recent weeks, she's spent about 20 hours per day off her feet. Some of her favorite venues include the window seat in the kitchen (above); Ella Numera Dos' messy bed; my feet, in various locales, and lounging near the screen door, in a vain attempt to snag a songbird or 2. She'll always fail, however, at that pursuit. She's an indoor kitty.

The Ad-dressing of Cats
By TS Eliot (From Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats

You've read of several kinds of Cat
And my opinion now is that
You should need no interpreter
To understand their character
You now have learned enough to see
That Cats are much like you and me
And other people whom we find
Possessed of various types of mind
For some are same and some are mad
And some are good and some are bad
And some are better, some are worse
But all may be described in verse
You've seen them both at work and games
And learnt about their proper names
Their habits and their habitat:
But how would you ad-dress a cat?

So first, your memory I'll jog,
And say, A CAT IS NOT A DOG.

I loved the CATS musical when I was in middle school, which is the musical based on these poems by T.S. Elliot. I love reading these series of poems he did about the cats; they were inventive and unique for their time. However, we did not read them in my English classes in the past year, as we focused on his poems that were garnered toward more of the modernist's style of poetry, which I didn't care for too much. Pepper looks a lot how I feel right now, and how I want to be for the rest of the week! Who knew being on vacation could wear you out so? Lol. Hope you have a good weekend. :)

I love a nice nap in the sun myself.

I've been coveting one of those large, round chaises I've seen for the patio...a glass of iced tea, a good book, a nice day, and nap.

Maybe I AM a cat.

Aww...this makes me miss having a cat.

I've come to the conclusion that the color and style of a cat determines something about them too.

we have our daughter's cat (heading into 3 years now)

she is black and white -- and that pretty much describes her personality, too.

Pepper is a very happy cat...saving up some energy to catch a butterfly or maybe even a mouse! What a life!

Cats are the best! I love cats and reflections so this is my kind of post. :)

I used a telephoto lens so I didn't have to get close enough to scare away the dragonfly. :)

I love cats, too, and Pepper is beautiful! No one can relax like a cat can! What a great reflection! Love the T.S. Elliot poem, too. Great post for the day! Have a wonderful weekend -- you and Pepper both!

I love how cats can sleep anywhere anytime on anything. CATS will always be one of my favorite musicals of all time ~ regardless of what the critics now say.

The tough life of a cat! But we still love them so much and yes, wish we were one of them!

You cat is very regal! I have an indoor cat who likes to sleep at my feet as well. She also has this weird habit of licking my feet (hmmm.... I probably shouldn't be putting that information on a public forum). I love her to pieces and she most certainly isn't a dog.
