Where Have All the Robins Gone?

Where Have All the Robins Gone?

Could get up to 30 inches!

I shot this pastoral scene off my back deck when the snow finally started to stick yesterday afternoon. The DC area is in for a whopper. It started snowing yesterday morning around 10 a.m. & isn't supposed to let up until about 10 tonite. Can you say "record book"?

All the weather dudes say this could be a storm for the ages. And we've been off 5 days from school so far this year already~2 over our limit. Because our district "prides" itself of being the "best" (ladybug teacher inservices & all), we'll be in school on Presdent's Day & the teacher work day at the end of the 3rd quarter. Any more time off & we'll be going to school an extra 30 minutes a day until the end of the year.

We had robins in our yard a week ago. I promise. I wonder where they go when it snows? Maybe Cate knows. She hosts 6-Word Saturday each week. You should stop by to see her & ask!

I'm sitting in my study in Springfield, looking out the window at heavy snow and a scene out of Dr Zhivago. Sigh. Will you join me in doing the No More Snow Dance?

Just loved this post... coming from SITS. Random, but are you going to Bloggy Boot Camp in Baltimore?

What's hitting you just left us - we have 10-15 and my puppy keeps getting major ice and snow stuck on her undercarriage when I taker her out!

We have family in Baltimore so we were talking to them last night-you are all in for a whopper!! Glad it's not coming up to us!! Pretty picture though. Hope you're not snowed in too long. Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

Not sure how things are for you today, but where I live 30 inches is about to come and go. Surrounded by 26 as I type this. That's what Tom Keiran said anyway. I'm not going to check. Good luck to you guys. See you when I dig myself out!

I have no idea where the robins would go! We have blue jays down here right now, and I've seen quite a few robins. It's finally starting to thaw out enough that I can hear the frogs in the creek again too. We don't get a lot of snow in South Carolina but it gets cold enough that even the birds here tend to lose their voice for a bit. Warmer weather is right around the corner (thank God!)
Happy 6WS,
~Autumn

Hi, Melissa, Jo here. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such a kind comment.

I'm glad you did, too, as it led me here where you now have a new follower in me.

As the Mom of a recent high school graduate (who's now in his first year of Junior college, entering his third semester), I know first hand the difference a good teacher makes -- it is evident you are one such teacher, who has a passion for what she does and does it well.

Wishing for you all beautiful things this winter -- and mostly an early spring for those of you who are being plummeted with precipitation!

Peace and serenity,
~Jo

I hope you have provisions. I stocked up on Reese's, milk, and pepperoni rolls. I forgot the donuts though. Good thing we didn't get anything. I can make it to the bakery.

Enjoy hunkering down inside where it's safe and warm. May the gods of electricity keep your power on!

I lived in the DC area for the 95 storm...those walls of snow beside both sides of the road were impressive and a bit scary.

I'm in the Frozen Tundra, Wisconsin, and we have some robins here who never got the memo to fly south! You would think it would be slim pickins for earthworms...I hate to picture the frozen little beaks, when they go for worms. Ouch!

I'm watching the Georgetown/ Villanova basketball came and it's so odd how many empty seats there are in the Verizon Center!

I hope you are safe and sound and enjoying all the snow!

Hows the snow sitch now? We have green grass showing through our dusting - what a weird winter it's been so far!

Thanks for the kind comment about the singing! I don't think I could make you feel small in any way, shape, or form though, Melissa ;) *hugs*

30 inches of anything is just way too much...unless you're talking strings of diamonds or something!

Hope you weather the storm!!

That is a pretty picture! We got a lot of snow up here in Pa as well. I'm not sure how many inches we ended up with!

Hope you're staying warm this weekend! Happy SITS Saturday!

Nice picture! I am sitting here.... waiting for some snow ... BUT NOTHING! Milwaukee has barely had any snow this winter! :(

I miss it!

Awesome. How's the cul-de-sac snow-blower brigade coping ?....During snow days schools should hold classes via Skype or just online so the second semester doesn't drag on.

It doesn't look like they are going to be coming around any time soon! We are bracing for another storm tomorrow and Monday!

I was wondering how you all were going to handle this one...I mean school-wise. We had a whopper of an ice storm last year and the school board ended up having to "excuse" the kids from almost 2 weeks of school because otherwise they wouldn't have been out until July. Yes...that is exactly what our education system needs...an extra 2 weeks off. Fingers crossed you were able to find that bench today. I heard you all got SLAMMED.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!!!

yours is so cute. It's funny that for ONCE it paid off to live in Michigan...since we didn't get any snow this week!

We STILL have a robin in our yard. Crazy thing! Happy snow days. Sorry you've exceeded the district limit--makes them a little less enjoyable. I still love the surprise of having a day's activities cancelled. Glad Mr. F made it down ok!

The robins go to hang out with Batman, of course! You poor folks are being seriously hammered with snow. Stay safe now with storm #2 and we'll see you all when you dig out in the Spring?

Thanks for playing 6WS!
