AC/DC?

AC

DC

My best specimens from last week's visit to The OBX. Both are whelks, also known as the Atlantic Conch. The petrified shell above, I guess, is an apt metaphor for the burned-out turistas who seek the solace of The OBX to unwind.

Forgive this summer-esque post. I've got 1 more week before returning to the salt mines & prefer to focus on pursuits of pleasure...

Those are cool, how big are they? Do you find them on the beach? Don't see shells like that on Massachusetts beachs,.

Well we are finally blanketed with snow, and although I love it, the beach sounds lovely!

That second shell is cool!

And of course I'm immediately reminded of my vacation to the Turks and Caicos in May...I snagged a fabulous Conch shell to bring home...only the story is so damn funny that I'll have to share it on my blog :-)

They look huge in those pictures! I could go for a nice, warm, beach day right about now!

The metal colored one looks like it was pounded into shape from on old colander.

Cheers!

Summer-esque is a great thing about now. I used to have sort of a collection of Conch shells...I wonder what happened to them. Have a great break.

no apologies are necessary...i find the conch analogy to be entirely appropriate for the season. picture one is before the holidays and picture two is after.

Very appropriate analogy. I hope you are enjoying your free time.

These shells have something extraterrestrial about them. Maybe they'll beam you back to OBX when things get too much @ the salt mines.
