Stick a Fork in Me...I'm Done

The Couch: 1975-2006

Looking forward to stuffing myself Thursday!

Meet The Couch. I've written about her before. She resided in my Journalism Office (the classroom that adjoins my classroom, which serves as an annex, oasis & general sanctuary to ne'er-do-wells) from 2001 to 2006.

I think she was born sometime around the mid-'70s. I'm just guessing, because of her hideous plaid pattern. I inherited The Couch after someone else in the building had already had more than their way with her.

The Class of 2007 adored The Couch. So much so that I think they hold a tiny bit of enmity toward Mrs. Scribe for exiling this oozing pile of springs & stuffing to the dump after their junior year. No couch to sit on in 2006-2007. Instead, the kids sat around in a circle on plastic classsroom chairs. Looked like they were fixin' to sing Kumbaya. If someone had pulled out a pitch-pipe, they probably would have. In 4-part harmony, too boot.

My contribution to today's 6-Word Saturday alludes to getting away~from students, from parents, from grading papers. My chicas are coming home soon~one today, one next week. We (the gals in La Familia Scribe, anyway) always sit around in our PJs on Turkey Day. All blessed day long.

No dogs allowed.

Ah, bliss!

Okay, that couch needed to be put out of it's misery. You did the right thing.

yes the couch had to go. Certainly reminds me of many a couch I sat on in college in the 70s.

Pjs all day. Can I assume you have no company coming over

Thanks for visiting my blog, and taking the time to leave a lovely comment. I found your blog a while ago and loved it, then couldn't remember how I'd found you... So glad you visited today so that I could follow! I was a teacher for 13 years so can relate to the different things you write about in your posts. The picture of the sofa made me smile out loud!

I love the idea of sitting around in your PJs on Thanksgiving...I do that at every opportunity, so why not on a holiday? (I have a feeling my mother wouldn't agree...)

That couch had a good life.

And didn't you get rid of The Couch because of the two mice who took up housekeeping there? You named them Woodward & Bernstein, I think. Can't wait to get home today...

Now that's the type of couch my kids can jump on until the springs give out.

That poor sofa... Could nobody even give him the dignity of a cover? Nah, definitely time for it to move on.

I like Thanksgiving in pjs but we'll be up super-early to catch a plane. Not the restful weekend I was hoping for but Joe will be running his first marathon so probably I'll be resting compared to him!

Thanks for playing 6WS!

Funny, one of the things I dislike about Thanksgiving meals is that stuffed feeling! Ugh.

Pass the turkey please...;)

Oh honey, get yourself a slip cover, it'll be fine!

Just learned my MIL has to head to her mother's for Thanksgiving because of an illness. That leaves me here, all by myself, with hubs, 2 sons, a FIL and a BIL - may I come to your home? Please?

Wow, if that couch could talk, I bet it would have some VERY interesting stories! :)

Would've loved to have been hidden under that couch all these years ;-)

There was probably a lot of coinage stuck in the depths of that couch. I can't mock though - i think the company Hubby works for picked it up and gave it to us. That fabric looks eerily familiar.

My homeroom teacher (who taught English, drama and stagecraft) had an extra room attached to her classroom and we hung out in there when we didn't have to be somewhere else.

I loved it.

I'm placing that couch in the '80's. I might have been my couch.
