Making the Grade

Paper Chase

Have to grade...all weekend long.

It's been 3 weeks, more or less, since the Back-to-School Preseason; I've spent 2 weeks, then, back at that teeming edifice known as Our Humble High School. Classes, besides being packed, are full of bright-eyed cherubs, eager to learn. Or not. Teaching 62 students' worth of AP English, plus 3 sections of journalistas can be wearing on a Scribe, is all I'm saying. The grading, you see, sometimes gets me down.

If y'all want to brighten my outlook a tad, you could do me a favor. Please Vote for MOO as Best Photography Blog in the Blogger's Choice Awards. And while you're over there, please record your Vote for Mrs. Scribe in the Best Blog About Stuff category.

6-Word Saturday, of course, is brought to you each week by Cate at Show My Face. Have a great one!

My site was nominated for Best Photography Blog!

I always used to feel terrified getting my grade back when I was younger! But I feel for you, I took all essay based subjects and the teachers would be getting A LOT of essays to mark! Thanks for stopping by my blog :)

I'll make you a deal. I'll do your grading if you do my lesson planning!

I need 2 weeks worth of social studies and science for 4th graders.

Ready, set, go!

Sounds boring, better spice it up with a mamosa.

Oh I don't envy all the grading! My only experience with it now is a twisted variation for professional scientists - peer review for journal articles. Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

Your six words could be my six words as well. My tote bag runneth over. I hope you have a wonderful weekend in spite of the paperwork.

I'm sorry. It's going to be too beautiful here to stay inside. Hope you make it through your pile of grading fast enough to enjoy some of the weekend! Love the glasses!

It that your actual pile of 'to grade' papers? Yowza! Hope you don't have to devote your entire weekend to grading.

That's why I want to be an art teacher...can't take all those projects home!

YIKES! That is a ton of correcting! I know I'll have a pile like that coming soon!

Hmmmm, I could have sworn I commented here. I know I visted last night. At any rate:

When I was a rookie teacher I made a STUPID rookie mistake. I assigned my students (150 of all) two poems each in a specified style. I then gave them time to compose, which they spent goofing off, so I upped the ante and gave them 4 poems each, 2 of each style. Of course that left ME with 600 poems to grade over the weekend. I learned a lot from that! ;)

Oh I am soooo glad I don't have to do this any more, not that I'm feeling smug or anything.
I liked your post about endless mindless inservice meetings - here in UK they are observed for the sake of observing them - rarely does anyone learn anything new from them!
Isn't it amazing how much virtual work can be accomplished when no students are present?
