"But I thought you made that fajita for me."
We had soooooooooo many good entries in this week's Silly Sunday Sweepstakes, but had to choose a winner, & Mr. Fairway did an admirable job. The Top Prize goes to The Top Dog this week, Yaya. Please send your contact info, Yaya, m'dear, to email@example.com , & I'll send you your $50 Target Gift Card, y'hear?
And we have 5 randomly selected runners-up in Sx3 this week, too. Each of y'all will receive a $10 Starbucks Gift Card. So, please send your info to the above e-mail, & we'll get this party started.
No, Mrs. Scribe didn't take this Superior Snap. But she DID read in her local rag the other day that the DC Area's firefly lobby has increased by the gazillions this summer. It's a real live Firefly-Palooza out there, folks. On any given summer eve, we can walk just a few steps from the Scribe Family's front door & be inundated by the bright little guys. Truly a miracle, or you can take the "expert's" opinion: Excessive Spring rains...
In the "I Really Didn't Want to Know That" category...The LA Coroner apparently still has Michael Jackson's brain. I was errand-running the other day & learned this bit of trivia. The coroner wants to conduct further tests and, of course, contribute to the general media feeding frenzy that has multiplied a million times over since The King of Pop's untimely death. And as a former Professional Scribe, I just want to know one thing...can we let the man rest in peace?
Oh, & one more thing. Did you know there's a Michael Jackson Blog? All MJ, all the time. Apparently started in July 2007. Truth is, as they say, stranger than fiction...
And finally, we all know that newspapers ~ some of them pretty high-fallutin', like The New York Times & The Boston Globe ~ have been experiencing everything but rigor mortis these days, as the American trend toward Technological ADD expands to newer types of "media," such as...well...blogging. But no need to stop the presses just yet. Wanted everyone to know that, over here at least, the exchange of both valuable & trivial info is alive & well.
Mrs. Scribe, in addition to remaining gainfully employed as the journalism teacher at Our Humble High School, has become somewhat of a "blog" consultant to family members. A "managing editor," if you will.
In addition to Ella Numera Dos's newest undertaking, I've been called in to "consult" on 2 other new Weblog enterprises: My Lil' Sis has launched Miss Jo's San Francisco, & my SIL has taken over from Veggie Mom at Eat Your Veggies!
Ella Numera Dos launched MOO, you regular readers will recall, as part of a school project. Many thanks to all of you who have supported her the past couple of weeks. She's still trying to find her "niche," so please bear with her as she works out the kinks. Your comments, critiques, et. al have meant the world to her, & she'll be getting back to you with her "thank you's" soon.
Miss Jo, a Northern Cali freelance journalist, started Miss Jo's San Francisco at about the same time. It's an eclectic collection of photos & stories. Not to brag or anything, but this is one of the prettiest blogs I've ever seen, so you really should pay Miss Jo a visit some time!
Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the neatest debut of all. My SIL, Aunt Julie, has taken over the helm of that quirky, fun & family-oriented blog, Eat Your Veggies! The blog launched last summer as a commercial enterprise for Julie's hubby, Uncle Lynn. It quickly morphed into one of the most unusual combinations of family & free enterprise that I've seen in the blogsphere. In fact, Aunt Julie is running her first giveaway, so you should drop in to see her this week!
That's all from Scribe Land, y'all. Thanks for tuning in to the latest update!
