Why frown? Isn't it Spring now?
I don't know about y'all, but I've always thought Pansies had faces. This little fellow, I think, illustrates my belief quite well. Even though he's watered, fed & well cared-for, he still looks unhappy to me.
Doesn't he know that it's Spring? While the Cherry Blossoms are bustin' out all over with joy, here Mr. Pansy sits, perturbed in his little pot.

Do you think that's where the saying came from? When I hear it I never have any sympathy for the person being a pansy, but now looking at that poor little face, I might re-think!
First time I've had my attention drawn to the face of a pansy. Yep it does look a little glum, but beautiful too.
best wishes Ribbon
Pansies survive winter. Pansies are tough!
That's cracking me up - the angry pansy. I have to agree.
LOL, he does look grumpy! Love "perturbed in his little pot". Cute!
I've always thought of it as a big smile on a teeny mouth (in the center) with big jowls, eyes all scrunched up.
I almost bought pansies yesterday but they made me feel uncomfortable. Maybe this is why!
Thanks for playing!
Well it's not quite spring yet here.. But these pansies are beautiful!
oh yes, one of my favourites.
I love pansies... hearty and beautiful and they come back from anything. I don't think that's unhappy... I think it's an air of superiority. ;)
lovely pic...
and lovely words... made me smile...
i see it as laughing guy with a big moustache!
:D
All my little violas are popping up too! But they look so happy to me, even with their sad faces!
That's one angry little face!
I always thought they had little faces. They kinda look like puppies.
