Reading Assignment

blog readability test

Well, we do teach High School Cherubs, after all. Found this courtesy of Miss Kris. Not sure what this rating means, or how they determine it. The profs in J-School taught us to write to a 10th-grade level. Do you suppose we still do?

For some more Sophomoric Fun, please tune in tomorrow for another edition of The Scholastic Scribe's Silly Sunday Sweepstakes. We have one more Intoxicating Holiday Snap for ya!

Seems like I'm pretty high-schooly, too. Wonder how Susie got to be a Genius? Maybe it's all that delicious food she makes!

Hi Melissa,

I found your blog at the Edublog Award 2008 nominee list. I am working on a community service project @ MIT university. We want to get kids to make videos about SAT vocabulary and create a free and more fun way to prep for the big test. You can view some sample videos at the website we're using http://www.BrainyFlix.com.

To encourage participation, we are going to run a contest and give out a small cash prize to the video that receives the most number of votes from viewers. We'll start accepting video submissions on January 1, 2009.

I was wondering if you would be willing to write a short post about our charity event. The more videos we receive, the more helpful we think we can be!

Please let me know. And if not, I'd love some feedback to find out what your hangups might be. I can be reached at jack.yu.is@gmail.com.

Thank you and have a happy new year!
Jack

You certainly write at a higher level than I do. I only get elementary school. I tried this when I first started blogging and thought it had something to do with how many postings you had and how you had set up the blog. I knew almost nothing so attributed the low score to that. Well, guess I was wrong. I just write for elementary kids!

Check out this site too: http://www.storytoolz.com/readability/index

It's good to send kids to with some of their writing so they can see how they are doing.

Hmmm.....I think it underestimated you!

I did awhile back and I think my blog was kindergarten...I just did it again and now mine is college (undergrad)!!! Something must be wrong with the generator.....

I think it must be a random generator. . . first mine was rated 'recess' and then 'snow-day' most recently I got a rating of. . . 'please pardon this interruption we are having some problems with the toaster oven in the teacher's lounge. . .'
