A Starbucks for the Teacher?

It used to be apples, now it's apparently coffee. Specifically, a tall cup of Pike Place Roast at your local Starbucks.

Rumors have been swirling around The Education Community that this promotion is, well, a rumor. But the Starbucks Blog, Ideas in Action, confirms the giveaway here. Present your Teacher ID at your local Starbucks every Monday in September--starting today--and get your free Cup o' Joe.

That is, of course, if you can find a Starbucks. The once ubiquitous Coffee Casbah closed 600 stores nationwide in July, according to The Chicago Tribune. We think, however, that the Seattle-based Starbucks is Trending (love to sprinkle our rhetoric with pompous business reporting terms, on occasion) the opposite way in our area. We already had 4 of the Caffeine Citadels within a 5-mile radius. Apparently, that wasn't enough. Starbucks recently opened a cafe in our local grocery store!

Not to bite the hand that feeds us. Now we just add a Decaf Grande Skim Latte to our shopping list.

Although I'm a school counselor, i'm actually considered a special education teacher, so maybe I'll grab me a cup one day! Maybe they want to help us stay awake?

We lost 1 here.. not a big deal. I did see the sign at the DRIVE THRU starbucks by me.. I try to keep myself in check by using a gift card that I keep regsiterd so I can only spend so much per week.. if you register your card you get free drinks and extras all the time, so it's a double bonus! :D

No kidding, and there are Starbuck's kiosks in the grocery stores here... AS IF you couldn't buy coffee in the store to make at home. Sheesh! Happy Caffeination!

Surprisingly, we only have two Starbucks(es?) in Blacksburg. One is in the total NoVa outcove that has a Five Guys in it as well. The other has eluded me to this point...

I wrote a post called The Starbucks Virus vs. the Idealist on my blog License To Love (www.introvertigo.typepad.com/licensetolove/
but that's not why I am commenting.

I ran across your blog and really think it is good. Do you include your students? Do they read it? Participate?

I love running across good, creative teachers.
I'll bet your program is excellent.
I still can't go get a Starbucks, though, even if it is free.
I'll bookmark your blog and be back!

What a great promotion! Teachers deserve every treat that they get. Ann Taylor runs a discount for teachers too - look on for it.

I wanna be a teacher now! Lucky you . . .

Not that you don't deserve it.
