The Bad News? We had to sit for 90 minutes with our Eds & Other Assorted Cherubs in the basement of the school, in the one hallway that's totally encased in cinder blocks--no windows, no nothin.' The filthy carpeting in that hall has just been replaced with Glaring White Linoleum. This Lovely Ambiance, combined with dire warnings emanating from the AP squawking over the PA, combined with the slightly greenish/yellowish/grayish hue of the skies & the Buckets of Rain pelting the building sideways With Great Force, and Thunder Boomers that sounded like Giants Banging Trashcan Lids right next to our tender ears caused us a tad bit of concern. Hey, we're Tejanos, thru & thru--we know what weather like that means!
Turns out the area suffered 4 twisters, including one that touched down about 2 miles from school that killed a fella when a tree hit is autoMObile. There are Live Wires down in front of the school even as we speak. Not quite sure why we're here today, except that Superintendent Man had already agreed to close school 2 days early, 'cause we didn't use our requisite number of snow days this year. SM probably wanted to make sure all our Cherubs received a Thorough Education--live power lines be damned!
We'd like to thank the School District, Mother Nature & possibly Global Warming for scaring us senseless. Oh, and thanks to the Chinese Joint that remained open during the height of the storm (thunder boomers continued to KerBOOM! & Ker-BAM! throughout the evening); Ella Numera Dos y yo decimos muchisimas gracias!
