Our Humble High School splits the 5th-period exam for seniors into two days, 'cause that's the short period that meets every day. Our Newspaper Cherubs are the daily burden of Your Humble Scribe. Of course, they're hardly a burden! Traditionally, the End-o-Year Janx for 5th period seniors features a "goodbye" party, hosted by the Juniors on the first exam day, followed by an "awards ceremony" of sorts, featuring honor society odds 'n' ends plus silly superlatives & comments from Yours Truly on the second exam day. The Junior-hosted party happened today.
The Intrepid 11th-graders decided on a "Luau" theme. Of course, they hung "Luau Party" banners all over the classroom, & wrote "Luau Party" on all the chalkboards, not realizing that they were Being Redundant. Luau means Party! So we had One Heck of a Party Party today, complete with decorations, pizza & Lots o' Junk Janx to munch on.
Our 5th-period soiree was followed by the 6th-period Yearbook Senior Sendoff. The Scribe got quite a few laughs, presenting The Cherubs with such superlatives as "Most Likely to Yearbook-Stalk Cute Guys" for one Boy-Obsessed Young Lady, & "Most Likely to Turn All Assignments In On Time" for the Cherub who has spent four years practicing procrastination to such a degree that she's now downright scientific about it!
BTW, we forgot to mention in earlier posts that the 174th Carnival of Education, is hosted this week by The Education Wonks. No one has commented much on our Internet Safety post of last week--maybe y'all should take a second gander? AnyWho, there are tons & tons o' interesting offerings, including from Our Dear Bloggy Friend Bellringers, & from Our New Friends Bluebird, Mamacita, NYC Educator, & teachergirl. We've met some Brand New Acquaintances on the Midway, too, including The Bus Driver, Campus Grotto, & The English Teacher. Last, but Certainly Not Least, Mr. Teacher (who plans to hoist the Big Top on his site next week) opines about Saturn, Jupiter & Bold Sweaters, a la Bill Cosby. Don't ask, just read. These are just a few of the 62 Games on the Midway as the school year winds down. OK, we realize that some of y'all are already Out for Summer. Fie on You! That means you have more time for visiting the Carnival, right? Check it out!
