Also on the Tryout Front, we posted Family Trees this afternoon for next year's Newspaper and Yearbook staffs. Minimal drama, several squeals of delight. No crying (that we know about, anyway). Photo above shows Anxious Cherubs clustered around the list outside the Journalism Suite after school this afternoon. Quite a civilized turnout. Nothing at all like the "American Idol" Auditions.

An update on MTV and the Second Season of "The Paper": Our Humble Newspaper Staff made the first cuts, and the Esteemed Adviser received two e-mails (count 'em!) last Friday, asking us to make a video. After much back-and-forth and several negotiations, we convinced a former AP Lang student (yay for Tim!) to film our footage. Surprisingly, the MTV-types didn't want anything at all snazzy--just interviews with about a dozen staffers and the Esteemed Adviser, footage (don't they call it "B" roll in the TV biz?) of the Staff at Work (yeah, right--lots of video of Sitting Around, Eating Lunch, Facebooking and Text Twist Playing also included in the package), and a tour of our Humble Journalistic Domicile. We complied, screened it today in class, filled out the questionnaire and shipped it off via FedEx today. It's just Our Opinion, but Our Cherubs are quite photogenic, thank you very much! We'll let you know if anything comes of it.
